What to Expect

We are excited for your first visit. Here at Temple Kids Dental we are all about fun and friendly child-centered dental care. Your child should never fear visiting the dentist, so we make sure their first visit is a positive and memorable one. Dr. Manuel Marien, Dr. Tjel Olson, Dr. Alex Piedra, and Dr. Aaron Blackwelder along with a highly trained staff know how to make each moment a rewarding experience. We provide the most modern and child friendly dental technology along with a child –friendly environment which includes I-Pads in the waiting room, TV’s above each dental chair, painted murals and calming colors on the walls, flavored gloves, and special treasure tower token reward systems. Our biggest complaint is that the children just don’t want to leave.

For our younger patients (ages 1 to 2), the first visits will be “easy”. This means we provide a gentle examination, a short cleaning, and application of fluoride treatments to teeth that have erupted. With these early visits, your child will grow accustomed to visiting our office and begin to develop positive associations with dental care. Once your child is old enough to ask questions and explore, we will take them on a tour of the office and answer any questions they may have. If their teeth are developed enough for cleaning and polishing, we will take x-rays, conduct a typical oral exam, and provide fluoride treatment.

Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.

We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!
